Capitol Hill obtained its name as it was an early candidate for Washington's state capitol. The community is very diverse both culturally and financially, and is one of the most historic areas of Seattle. Mansions line the upper, North Eastern portion of the hill capturing views of Lake Washington, Bellevue and many of Husky Stadium. Originally housing many city founders, the mansions are still home to many of Seattle's elite. The views from atop the hill in Volunteer Park and the water tower began to attract more attention during the 1901 Alaska Yukon and Pacific Exposition, and have been very popular ever since.

Along with the
mansions on the hill lie's a very different scene of a bustling and
diverse community full of a happening night life, ethnic restaurants,
and unique shops and people keep the streets lively through the day and
throughout the night. Along Broadway Ave, the main street running along
the top of the hill, there is something for everybody.
