The Alki
neighborhood is Seattle's best beach town getaway and is known as the
original birthplace of Seattle. Alki slows down in the winter, much to
the enjoyment of the locals, but the remaining months of the year
brings thousands of people to enjoy the beach. A short trip north from
the West Seattle Bridge, the shoreline is lined with a jogging trail
while luxury condominiums and beach cottages with unobstructed views of
Puget Sound and city line the street. Along the beach you'll find
frequent volleyball games, bonfires, roller bladers, and
kayakers taking in the views and the sun. Restaurants take advantage of
the views and atmosphere with many outdoor seating areas. Steep terrain
in many areas gives some homes unparalleled views making it a desirable
spot for many people looking for a great view.

It is second in
popularity only to Green Lake with outdoor activities. However, the
beach and option to swim makes it a little more desirable for many.
Don't forget to stop by Salty's for brunch or dinner! Follow it with a
ferry back to Seattle to make the experience even more memorable. |
